Since we were getting over the tail end of having the flu and were scheduled to get our oldest’s last cast off, we decided to find an RV Park with a pool and hot tub, near Yuma, for a little physical therapy. We all were okay soaking up a little vitamin D and getting some swimming in.

So, the girls were able to play with friends for a total of about 2 hours throughout the entire time we were in Lake Havasu for the balloon festival and somewhere within that time the flu was picked up. Ahhh!

We decided to stick with our original plan and meet up with some of the Fulltime Families before the planned rally. We thought it might be helpful to start off in a smaller more intimate setting so we could get to know people a little better. All of us were also adjusting to our oldest having a broken leg.

After having left Tucson to visit Bisbee and Tombstone, we returned once again to our trusty BLM spot at Snyder Hill– a favorite spot for our kids due to a great climbing tree.

Justin and I had previously visited Tombstone before we were married or even engaged actually and we had such fond memories of it! Well, we realized that those fond memories were in part because we didn’t have kids. 😛 Tombstone is definitely better to visit as an older kid or for adults. Still, we managed to recover ourselves and have a pretty good time by the second day.

The weather forecast for while we were in Bisbee for the Thanksgiving holiday was bleak and it stuck to its planned course. It was cold, rainy and windy most of the time. Despite the weather we could see that this was a really cute town!

Last year we didn’t get to really explore the city of Tucson, due to a laundry mishap that sent Justin back to Phoenix. So this year we were excited to check out the city. There’s definitely a lot to like about Tucson– from the convenient BLM camping near the city, the hip vibe near the University, and the influence of Mexican culture.

We had been considering joining Harvest Hosts for a while now– a membership program that allows you to camp for free at farms, wineries, museums and more. While we were at Big Bend, Justin had a conversation with some campers who were members and decided it was time for us to join. Our first Harvest Host experience was staying at Licon Dairy in San Elizario, Texas. We had a great time!
